Prerequisites: Math 247 or 248 or equivalent.
Texts: Roads to Geometry (second edition)
by E. C. Wallace and Stephen F. West
We will study Chapters 2, 3, 4 and 6. If time permits we'll look at 5
(the chapter numbers come from the first edition).

Homework: Homework problems are to be assigned
once a week. They are due on Monday of the following week. No
late homework will be accepted.

Exams: There will be quizzes, two midterms and a
final. You have to pass the final to pass the course. All exams will be closed book. The midterms will take place on
February 26 and April 9 (the dates are
subject to change). The final, according to the non-combined final
examination schedule is to take place on
May 13, 8 am in the regular classroom.

Grade: The formula for the course grade is roughly
as follows:

final exam = 35 %
-
2 midterms at 20 % each = 40%
-
homework, quizzes, class participation etc = 25%
