I plan to cover Chapters 1 and 3 of the text plus additional material on continuity and compactness.

• Homework: Homework problems are to be assigned once a week. They are due the following week on Moodle, usually on Mondays. Late homework submissions will lose points. Once solutions are posted, no late homework will be accepted.
• Quizzes: will usually be on Fridays.
• Attendance: of lectures/discussions is expected.

• Exams: There will be two midterms and a final.

  The midterms will take place on March 03 and April 16 (the dates are not likely to change).

  The final, according to the non-combined final examination schedule is to take place on 1:30-4:30 p.m., Thursday, May 13

  Requests for a make-up quizzes or exams require a serious documentation and are (almost) never granted. Please plan accordingly. I will drop the lowest homework and quiz scores.

• Grade: The formula for the course grade is roughly as follows:
  • final exam = 35 %
  • 2 midterms at 20 % each = 40%
  • homework, quizzes = 25%
• The formula is here to give you a sense of how you are doing in class. This said, I strongly recommend studying for the final no matter how well you are doing on the midterms and the homeworks. You have to pass the final to pass the course.
